Take a T Make a T
Found a “T”? Now what?
Inspired by Georgia Tech’s long-standing tradition of “stealing the T,” the Take a T, Make a T project puts a fun, hands-on twist on campus culture. With many signs missing their T’s, The MILL has designed custom 3D-printed and laser-cut T’s that fit perfectly into these gaps. Each T features a QR code linking to The MILL’s website, inviting students to learn more about our make-and-measure space.
The challenge? Find a T, take it, and bring it to The MILL to claim a mystery prize! Once you “steal” a T, we encourage you to craft a replacement using our equipment, keeping the tradition alive while exploring materials science and engineering.

The Materials Innovation and Learning Laboratory (The MILL) is the first-ever undergraduate MakerSpace primarily dedicated to Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). The MILL provides a safe and relaxed discovery space to gain hands-on experience with common discipline techniques, including the characterization of materials’ chemistry and structure, the measurement of material properties, and materials processing. All Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff have open access to learn about any of our equipment during our open hours:
(Mon – Fri ,10 am – 5 pm)
Our Main Lab is located in the J. Erskine Love Building, Room 176
Types of “T”s

PETG
🔥 You found a Common T! 🔥
This “T” is made of PETG, the most common “T” we put out. Don’t let the rarity fool you—it’s a workhorse material! With its toughness, flexibility, and heat resistance, PETG is a go-to for functional parts and outdoor projects. We’ve used it to craft these projects:
