Safety‎‎

Educate | Facilitate | Enact

The MILL has a culture of safety — we educate all MILL users about the following information:

Safety Requirements for all Users

All users are required to complete Georgia Tech’s Lab Safety 101 and Right to Know (RTK) training, both of which can be found here. Note that RTK certification expires every year, and Lab Safety expires every 3 years.

MILL users are also required to follow all PPE requirements for MILL facilities. These include:

  • Long cotton pants
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Safety goggles (available at the door)

Users are responsible for following any safety advisements made by MILL Staff. Thanks for making the MILL a safe lab environment!

Chemical Safety

Our lab space is equipped to safely store and use chemicals. All chemicals and samples must be labeled and properly disposed after usage—users may NOT store chemicals or samples at the MILL without prior permission. If interested in storing chemicals at the MILL, please fill out our chemical storage request form to notify our COO. Please wait for a confirmation email before proceeding.

Additional Safety Requirements

To operate certain pieces of equipment, additional training and PPE may be required, including nitrile gloves and a lab coat. For our X-ray characterization equipment (XRD & XRF), users must complete Georgia Tech’s X-ray Safety Training before a separate training at the MILL.

COVID-19 Response:

The MILL is no longer requiring all users to wear a face covering in our facilities.
